Tooth-Colored Fillings

BPA-Free is the Way to Be

At Stephen P. Hahn DDS, we believe your family deserves the best. That’s why we use only the most advanced technology and the safest, most durable materials to restore smiles. We’ve all heard about the dangers of mercury fillings (we also provide safe mercury filling removal), but have you heard about the dangers of BPA from tooth-colored fillings? That’s right, the same toxic BPA that’s found in many plastic water bottles and other food storage containers is also used in the creation of many dental sealants and composites. If you don’t want it in your water bottle, it’s safe to say you don’t want it in your mouth, either.

That’s why we’re happy to say our fillings are completely BPA-free so you can smile knowing yours is safe and healthy. Tooth-colored fillings are more stable then their metal counterparts, so they won’t expand and contract and will last longer. The most obvious benefits, of course, is they’re mercury-free and tooth-colored to blend in seamlessly with your natural teeth.

Inlays & Onlays

Fortify & Conserve Teeth

If you have an area of decay that’s too large to fix with a filling, but not large enough to warrant a full crown, an inlay or onlay is a great intermediate option. Or, if you have an old metal filling that needs to be removed and replaced (mercury filling removal), an inlay or onlay is just the ticket.

Inlays and onlays are conservative restorative options because they can fix larger areas of damage and decay without having to remove healthy tooth structure for a full crown. An inlay is smaller and contains damage contained within the cusp, or the outer ridges of the tooth, and an onlay is larger and extends to damage beyond the cusp. Inlays and onlays can strengthen and fortify the tooth back to it’s brilliant, healthy condition. And with the help of our CEREC same-day technology, we can complete the whole process in a single visit!

Same Day Crowns

A New Crown in a Single Visit

If you go to another dentist in Henderson, getting a crown might be a bit of a process. First, you would go in for your initial consultation, where you would have your exam and x-rays taken to determine if a crown is the right solution for you. Then you would return for your next appointment to have your impressions taken. Your impressions would then be sent to a lab to have your crown created, and you would return sometime later to have your crown placed. (Are we having fun yet?)no r

Thankfully, at Stephen P. Hahn DDS, we’ve invested in a high-tech CEREC milling machine that allows us to digitally design, create, and place crowns and other restorations in a single visit! CEREC uses advanced CAD/CAM technology to take digital impressions that are then converted into precision 3D models. Then we select a perfectly color-matched block of ceramic (porcelain or zirconia) to carve your new crown while you wait. Your tooth will be prepped, and your crown will be secured, all in the same appointment — no return visits or temporary crowns necessary!

Bridges

Bridge the Gap to New You

If you’re missing one or more teeth, you understand the toll it can take on your quality of life and self-esteem. It can be hard to enjoy your favorite foods and smile with confidence. What you may not know is the damage that follows when missing teeth are left missing. The jawbone deteriorates, and surrounding teeth shift and rotate which causes changes to your alignment and bite, potentially leading to headaches and TMJ dysfunction. Thankfully, bridges can help fill the gap and maintain the integrity of your smile for years to come.

Traditional bridges typically consist of one or more fabricated teeth, anchored to surrounding teeth with crowns on either side. We have a variety of bridge options to suit your needs, including traditional bridges, cantilever bridges (crown on one side only), and Maryland bridges (secured with metal wings to the back of abutment teeth).

Root Canals

Stopping Infections & Saving Teeth

If you’re experiencing a toothache, pain, swelling, sensitivity to hot and cold, or a bad taste in the mouth, you may have an infection and should come see us right away. Sometimes infection-causing pathogens can make their way inside the teeth and cause a lot of problems. If you have an infected tooth, a root canal will be in your best interest if you wish to get out of pain and save the tooth.

Root canals are important restorative treatments designed to treat endodontic infections and save teeth. First, Dr. Hahn will use a topical anesthetic and a painless injection to numb the area and ensure you don’t feel a thing. Then he will make a small access hole in the tooth and use specialized instruments to carefully remove the infection and sterilize the area. Then he will fill the chamber with resin to prevent any further infection, and finally, the process is finished with a crown to restore the tooth back to health.

If your child has an infected tooth, we can perform what is called a pulpectomy or pulpotomy—essentially a root canal for baby teeth. See, that wasn’t so bad!
