We know there’s a million other things you’d rather do than have oral surgery, but if your oral health is suffering, you know it’s in your best interest. At Galleria Family Dental, Dr. Hahn has extensive training and experience in providing oral surgery procedures from the comfort of your dental home. There’s no need to find a specialist, we can take great care of you using our advanced technology and gentle touch to get your smile healthy and functioning again.
Any good dentist will do everything they can to avoid the need for an extraction, but if all other treatment options have been expended, an extraction may become necessary. Our primary goal, of course, is to keep your natural teeth healthy and in your mouth for as long as possible—hopefully for life—but sometimes things happen.
Maybe you have a badly infected tooth that’s beyond repair with a root canal, or you had a root canal in the past that failed. In this case, an extraction is necessary to prevent the infection from spreading. Maybe you or your teen has an impacted wisdom tooth. Left in place, impacted wisdom teeth can cause a whole host of problems including alignment and bite changes, pain, swelling, infection, headaches, and TMJ dysfunction. Maybe you have a tooth that’s badly decayed or broken and is past the point of repair with a crown.
Whatever the case, Dr. Hahn can help, and where many dentists would send you to a specialist or an oral surgeon—usually the case with wisdom teeth—we are happy to take care of you right here in-house. We use a topical anesthetic for painless injections, so you won’t feel a thing, and Dr. Hahn will give you detailed instructions to follow to ensure your quickest and most comfortable recovery.
Dental implants are truly a lifesaver when it comes to your oral health, your confidence, and your quality of life after missing teeth. When many other general dentists would send you to an implant specialist or implantologist to have your implants placed, Dr. Hahn has the advanced training and technology to provide precision surgical implant placement from the comfort of your dental home.
If Dr. Hahn determines you are a good candidate for dental implants, we are happy to help you through the entire process from missing teeth to a new smile. If you need any work done prior to having your implants placed, like extractions or bone grafting, don’t worry—we’ve got you there, too. Implant surgery first involves taking digital impressions of your teeth and digital x-rays of your jaw, so we can see exactly where and how your implants should be placed.
Once placed, dental implants require a healing period of about six months before we can secure a new restoration like a crown, bridge, or a full set of implant-supported dentures. If you’d like to read more about dental implants, visit our Dental Implants page.
In some cases, there may not be sufficient bone density to successfully place a dental implant, but we can perform bone grafting techniques to supplement the bone and make you a suitable candidate for an implant.
Maybe the tooth you lost was in the upper back region of your mouth and your sinus cavity has enlarged. Maybe the tooth you lost was previously infected and you lost some of the bone around the tooth. Maybe your tooth has been gone long enough the underlying jawbone has deteriorated. Whatever the case, Dr. Hahn can supplement your jawbone so it can successfully host a dental implant.
If you have a tooth that’s badly broken or decayed, we may still be able to save it with a crown. But if you have small teeth or there’s not enough of your natural crown left above the gum line to anchor the restoration, some dentists may say “Too bad, we’ll have to extract it.” But at Galleria Family Dental, we know there’s another option for saving your healthy tooth root and avoiding extraction—crown lengthening!
Crown lengthening is like gum contouring – but the difference is that gum contouring’s purpose is largely for aesthetic reasons, where crown lengthening is usually a restorative technique that prepare teeth for a crown that otherwise may not have been able to accommodate one. Crown lengthening helps us preserve your natural tooth root before giving you a new replacement tooth, so you can eat, speak, and smile with confidence again. Crown lengthening helps us conserve your natural smile for as long as possible.
If your smile is suffering and you’re beginning to think it’s past the point of repair, we want you to know you never have to give up hope with our team at Galleria Family Dental. Maybe you’ve been avoiding the dentist for years—maybe your entire life! Maybe your smile is the victim of tooth decay or gum disease. Maybe you suffered a traumatic illness or injury that’s left your mouth in shambles. Whatever the reason, you can rest assured Dr. Hahn and our team have the advanced training and technology to rebuild your smile, your confidence, and your quality of life from the ground up.
Every smile and every body is different, so each full mouth reconstruction case will vary depending on your needs. The process begins with a comprehensive consultation with Dr. Hahn where you will sit down one-on-one and discuss things including how your oral health got to this point, any fears or concerns you have, your diet and lifestyle, any medications you are taking, as well as your goals, budget, and ideal timeline. Then, together, we will come up with a custom treatment plan to get your smile back on track. Full mouth reconstruction may involve any number of oral surgery and restorative techniques to get your smile healthy, functional, and beautiful again.
